Optimal Health was founded with a simple mission: to help people achieve optimal health.
We have found that by providing essential vitamins and minerals, through infusion therapy, it helps the body detoxify and provides the cells an abundant supply of vital nutrients required for peak performance. In addition to IV therapy infusions, an initial health consultation is recommended so that Dr. Smiley can tailor the IV to meet your body's specific needs.
Our mission is to help patients reach their optimal state of health. We do this by using a holistic approach and evaluating not just a patients symptoms, but by looking at the whole person and their environment. We utilize the latest innovations in science, medicine and technology as well as the wisdom of ancient healing traditions. We have found that by utilizing an integrative approach our patients get the best of both worlds. Our goal is to provide you with a truly personalized medical experience that will transform and optimize your life.
J.T. Smiley D.O. grew up an avid water skier and competitive alpine ski racer in Edina, Minnesota. His love of skiing and the mountains took him to The University of Montana in Missoula for college. While perusing his passions of climbing, skiing and kayaking, he completed his bachelor of arts degree in Health and Human Performance with Honors.
Dr. Smiley attended medical school at Western University of Health Science in Pomona, California. It was in medical school that he met & fell in love with his beautiful wife Christine. While in medical school he served as president of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association and was a member of Sigma Sigma Phi (The Osteopathic Honors Society). Not wanting to sit behind a desk 100% of the time he started an Ultimate Frisbee League so students could exercise their bodies as well as their brains.
Somehow he convinced Christine to leave the beaches of Southern California for the snow covered mountains of Colorado, where he completed his residency in Family Medicine at St. Anthony's Hospital in Denver, Colorado. After residency he was lucky enough to land a job in an Emergency Department at the base of Winter Park Resort. Both he and Christine spent the next 5 years becoming proficient in sports medicine, trauma & high altitude medicine. After Winter Park Dr. Smiley accepted a job at the highest hospital in North America, St. Vincent Hospital, in Leadville Colorado. There he served as the medical & trauma director for the Emergency Department and was chief of staff for the hospital. Leadville is home to a series of ultra marathon competitions, one where participants run 100 miles starting at 10,000 ft and go up in altitude from there. Dr Smiley worked closely with the athletes and event coordinators to ensure the safety of these ultra endurance athletes.
After 10 years in the cold and snow they decided to move back to the beach. They were fortunate enough to discover beautiful 30A & immediately fell in love! Being here on 30A has allowed Dr. Smiley to get back to his roots of osteopathic medicine by treating the mind, body and soul. He has developed a unique personalized and integrative approach to optimizing health. This approach allows Dr. Smiley to really get to know his patients and develop a comprehensive plan that addresses all aspects of their health. When not working Dr Smiley enjoys an active lifestyle that includes: stand up paddle surfing, ultimate frisbee, biking, organic gardening & generally just enjoying the 30A lifestyle.
Christine Smiley D.O. finished her medical school from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California in 2003. She was awarded the President's Award for her academics and community service. She did her residency at The University of Colorado in Denver, CO in Family Medicine. There she was elected and served as Chief Resident at Swedish Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center in Denver. Dr. Smiley received her bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and received the Jacob Van Ek Award, the highest academic award given at CU. Dr. Smiley did Developmental Neurobiology Research for the University of Colorado while earning her bachelor's degree. She was published in Society for Neuroscience Abstracts, October 1997, Vol. 23. She then moved to Los Angeles, California and worked on a research project for the Children's Health Study at the University of Southern California School of Medicine. She worked with the Department of Preventative Medicine at USC to study the potential long term effects of air pollution exposure on the respiratory health of children.
Dr. Smiley grew up on a ranch in Pleasant Hill, Iowa where she was an avid horse woman and barrel racer. While in college in Boulder, she volunteered at the Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center - teaching disabled children to ride horses for physical and psychological therapy. She has alway been drawn to smaller communities and rural areas. Dr. Smiley practiced rural emergency medicine in Colorado. During that time she was fortunate enough to spend her winters working in the medical centers at the base of the world class ski resorts of Winter Park & Breckenridge. From those experiences she gained a special interest in orthopedic injuries and sports medicine. She has a special interest in acute care, pediatrics and sports medicine. Dr. Smiley has a special place in her heart for our precious little ones and very much enjoys making pediatric patients feel comfortable in the doctor's office. She encompasses a holistic approach to healthcare and embraces the osteopathic tradition of incorporating mind, body & spirit for treating her patients.
She enjoys the snow much more now as a ski vacation than a daily occurrence! Dr. Smiley moved to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida for the warm climate and amazing coastline after vacationing here several times. She enjoys paddle boarding, swimming and biking with her family which consists of the other Dr. Smiley (J.T.) , daughter (Jade) & son (Theo). Family is very important to her and she wanted a family friendly place where her child could thrive and be raised similar to her upbringings in Iowa. She fell in love with the emerald blue water and the friendly spirit of the southerners who reside in Santa Rosa Beach!

I receive an IV therapy with Vitamin C and booster shoots in Vitamin B and D once a month. Quick and painless. I highly recommend a consultation with Dr. Smiley so that your IV therapy is customized specifically to your needs.

Had a bad migraine that just wouldn't go away. Fortunately I stopped in for an IV. Within an hour my headache was gone! The place is nice and the chairs are comfy. I would definitely come back again.
