Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide, NAD+ is the active form of a coenzyme found in every cell in your body.
NAD+ = Energy
NAD+ helps to turn carbohydrates, fats, and proteins in the body into useable energy via the Citric Acid Cycle (Krebs Cycle). This important chemical reaction results in the production of ATP. ATP is the energy currency of life, powering nearly every body activity such as muscle contraction, protein manufacturing, and cellular communication. Without NAD+ your cells would not be able to create energy from the fats, protein and carbohydrates you eat.
Because NAD+ is so critical for energy production many elite athletes use NAD+ before events or to aid in recovery from training.
NAD+ = DNA Repair
NAD+ does much more than just create energy for our cells, it also is necessary for turning on a family of genes called Sirtuins that are essential for DNA repair. Our DNA is constantly under being damaged by the simple process of being alive. The good news is our body has a build in repair process. One of the main ways our body accomplishes this feat is by activating sirtuins. However when NAD+ levels are low it sends a signal that energy is needed elsewhere in the body and the Sirtuin genes are turned off.
As you age NAD+ stores decline which results in decreased Sirtuin activation, and as a result decreased ability of your body to repair DNA. Scientists believe that by the time we reach our 40’s, the supply of NAD+ is no longer able to meet the demand for important biological processes. Additionally, sickness and disease, as well as environmental and self-induced stressors can rapidly deplete our body of this vital nutrient.
Additionally, low levels of NAD+ may contribute to fatigue, depression, and anxiety. It hinders our body’s ability to overcome the grip of drug and alcohol addiction. Additionally, low levels of NAD+ may contribute to worsening disease states in vital organs such as the heart, liver, and brain. NAD+ depletion weakens our immune system, the ability to fight infection and even slow the progression of cancer.
For general health and longevity most people choose to have a single NAD+ infusion every 1-3 months.
For many of the conditions listed above a treatment protocol consists of a loading dose of 3-5 IV infusions for best results.
For drug and/or alcohol detoxification protocols range from 10-14 days.
A brief assessment will be conducted on the day of treatment. For intravenous NAD+, a small IV will be inserted. The infusion will run for approximately 3-4 hours.
The side effects of treatment are minimal and are related to the rate at which the NAD+ is administered. At a faster rate, patients may experience slight upper torso pressure, abdominal cramping and lower leg soreness. Flushing, mild nausea and a slight headache may also occur. These side effects usually disappear within 15-30 seconds of slowing the rate of infusion. Patients are able to pass the time in our relaxing clinic environment by watching TV, reading, and listening to music. You will also have access to high-speed internet and can bring your laptop for personal use.
All of our NAD+ infusions are followed by a vitamin infusion to increase absorption and uptake of the NAD+ into your cells.
This is a good one if it's your first time to try out NAD+
Most people can comfortably do this infusion in 1-1.5hrs.
500mg is the typical infusion dose and most people can comfortably do this infusion in 3 hours.
Start this one first thing in the morning as it can take 5 hours if you are new to NAD+.
This is the typical loading dose and you can do it in three 500mg infusions or two 750mg infusions depending on your schedule.
